Gill Walton letter of thanks for MSW celebrations

on 02 December 2020 Maternity Services MSW Week MSWs - Maternity Support Workers

During November, the RCM celebrated MSW Week and rolled out an MSW Virtual Festival with hour long sessions on a range of topics. Although virtual, the engagement was overwhelming with maternity teams up and down the country sharing their appreciation for their maternity support worker colleagues across all platforms.

RCM Chief Executive, Gill Walton, was especially proud of the engagement and sends her letter of thanks to all members who got involved: “On behalf of the RCM, I’m sending a huge personal thank you for all the hard work that went into celebrating MSWs in the fantastic fortnight of MSW Week and the MSW Virtual Festival.

“Across the UK our members, activists and branches have celebrated and supported support workers in a very strange new world. We had almost 200 MSWs join us virtually for our MSW Festival and against the huge challenges you all face we made our MSW Week campaign just as successful as ever.

“MSWs are essential members of the team and it has been fantastic to see the whole of maternity doing all they can to recognise their colleagues and show great acts of kindness during an unusually challenging time.

“You’ve all been part of unprecedented year during the pandemic, supporting one another through such difficult times, while truly embracing the collective importance of our union and professional organisation of over 50,000 members. This simply isn’t possible without you!”
