RCM midwives and MSW members in Wales have accepted the Welsh Government negotiated proposals for NHS staff on the Agenda for Change pay scale.

A large majority (86.90%) of respondents voted to accept the proposals following a consultation with members in Wales by the RCM that closed at midnight on Sunday 16 September.

Part of the pay deal was negotiating the all-Wales menopause policy and a revision of the managing attendance policy with an emphasis on improving the health and well being of staff.

RCM Director for Wales Helen Rogers said: ‘This was a very good offer, especially in the current climate. I am pleased that our members have accepted it by such an overwhelming majority. It means that midwives, MSWs and other NHS staff can start to see real increases in their pay. I see this as the start of better and fairer pay for midwives and other NHS staff in Wales.’

Pay deals have already been agreed with the governments for staff in the NHS in both England and Scotland.
