Hywel Dda celebrates IDM with feel good campaign

on 05 May 2021 RCM Branches

The branch is supporting random acts of kindness month throughout February across all sites in Hywel Dda. In Bronglais, Glangwili and Withybush names are being drawn every day to receive an act of kindness. These vary from vouchers for local businesses to pamper gifts and food/drink hampers/ The local branch has provided funding to those leading the project in each site towards purchasing gifts to be given to staff as random acts of kindness.

Furthermore, the initiative has been extremely well supported by local businesses, with many having made extremely kind donations to support the initiative. In addition to the daily names draw, food, snacks and and refreshments have been provided for staff on some days throughout the month, again supported by donations from local businesses. Staff in Bronglais enjoyed a free lunch provided by Spartacus Aberystwyth on Tuesday 2nd  February (see image).

All maternity staff will be acknowledged in this initiative, which is including midwives, MCAs, ward clerks, obstetricians, student midwives and managers. The initiative aims to acknowledge the random acts of kindness that occur daily within midwifery, and to thank staff for their kindness towards each other and the women and families they care for.

It is hoped that this initiative will contribute towards raising staff morale. The last year has seen unprecedented challenges and changes within the maternity services, and it was felt that now was an important time to acknowledge the amazing work of all of the staff across all sites within the health board.  Names are being drawn at the end of handover period, and this is creating excitement and a buzz throughout the unit.

The branch hope that random acts of kindness month can be celebrated each year across the health board as a way of thanking staff and raising morale.
