Call for Abstract – Entry deadline 18 APRIL 2017

Unlike previous RCM conferences, for 2017 we’ve taken the decision not to have a single overarching focus or event ‘title’, but to divide conference content, and hence the concurrent session submissions and posters too, into five broad all-encompassing themes:

  • Women first
  • Leadership for all
  • Healthy staff, healthy service
  • Safe and effective in practice
  • Working in partnership

These five aspects reflect core salient issues within contemporary maternity care – who we deliver the service for; the importance of good leadership of the profession and vision for what we can achieve; the need to care for staff, so they may, in turn, provide high-quality care for women and babies; the fundamentals of what counts as a ‘safe’ service and the need to incorporate safety and effectiveness and the woman’s voice within evidence-based clinical practice; and working together- recognising the skills and contribution of others – teams and partners.

The provision of maternity care is changing… Reviews and reports have been formalised, transformation is the word of the moment within the profession. This is a time of opportunity for maternity services but also of challenge, how is this going to happen? What will the future of maternity care look like? Will continuity of carer be embraced and implemented? We want to inform, debate and crucially enthuse for change. Do you have insight, knowledge, and experience within your unit or team that could add to the dialogue?

This is your opportunity to help shape the content and debate for the leading UK professional midwifery conference, to share your work with your peers and raise your professional profile.

We are accepting abstract submissions for evidence-based presentations for our concurrent sessions or for the poster exhibition. These can either discuss research findings or best practice initiatives. The submissions will be considered by our panel of judges; each abstract will be blind scored by two midwife judges. Final decisions on acceptance and inclusion in the programme will depend on the availability of appropriate sessions and overall balance of the programme.

Deadline for submissions 18 April 2017 Click here to view the 2017 entry criteria.
