YogaBirth Antenatal Yoga Teacher Training Course
Applications are now being accepted for the next course beginning in May 2021
The YogaBirth Teacher Training Course provides a unique opportunity to study with highly specialised yoga teachers and childbirth educators, to learn to teach a form of pregnancy yoga that is rooted in the body’s own intelligence and intuition.
YogaBirth has over 25 years of experience teaching perinatal yoga. Our approach is influenced by the work of Vanda Scaravelli, and is the ideal yoga for pregnancy: gentle yet powerful, constantly working with the breath and with gravity, with natural movement and attention to the structure and state of the body. Moreover, our teacher training incorporates a comprehensive study of the physiology of pregnancy and birth, as well as physical and emotional preparation for childbirth.
The course is focused on how yoga and childbirth education can be integrated for health and well-being through the different stages of pregnancy. We will explore the principles of anatomy and physiology, safety issues, and the spirituality and emotional experience at this stage of life. Through the processes of discussion, experiential work, assignments and yoga practice, students will learn to support and empower pregnant women on their path to motherhood.
Who can apply?
YogaBirth welcomes anyone who has a deep commitment to working with pregnant parents. Participants include yoga teachers, midwives, doulas, childbirth educators and complementary therapists. No previous yoga training is necessary.
YogaBirth is the only antenatal yoga training in the UK to be run over a full year, comprising 300-hours. Each student receives individual mentoring from an experienced YogaBirth teacher throughout the course. Students also benefit from the annual YogaBirth Continuing Professional Development study days.
This course is for those seeking an in-depth learning experience with time to practice and develop, discuss and reflect.
Where, where and how is the course run?
Our upcoming course begins in May 2021, on Zoom. Due to Coronvirus restrictions, the course will commence online. Weekend sessions will resume in-person (North London venue) when it becomes safe.
The course is taught over 8 tutorial weekends (full days on Saturday and Sunday) plus the annual YogaBirth CPD Study Weekend. These are spaced 6-8 weeks apart throughout the year.
In between the course weekends there will be regular on-line content, including pre-recorded materials to watch and live Zoom sessions for teaching practice. Students attend personal yoga classes to develop and deepen their own yoga practice and understanding. They also observe live YogaBirth pregnancy yoga classes to learn in real-time about teaching yoga, holding a group and working with pregnant women.
Mentoring and distance support is done via phone and Zoom. Students read and prepare work for each tutorial weekend.
The cost of the YogaBirth Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training Course is £2,850. A deposit is required on acceptance of a place, and payment can be made in instalments. There is a £100 discount if fees are paid in full by the start of the course.
Course fees include all tuition, mentoring, some reading material, attendance at 16 YogaBirth classes (required), student membership of YogaBirth organisation during the course which includes attendance at YogaBirth CPD events, and continued mentoring while setting up YogaBirth classes in the first months after completion.
Course fees do not include books, teaching aids, attending a minimum of 30 hours of personal yoga classes (required), and possible travel/ accommodation if the course weekends eventually take place in North London.
On successful completion of the course, students are awarded their training certificate and invited to take up full membership of YogaBirth organisation, with its CPD, website, marketing and active professional network, plus access to bespoke insurance and first aid training.
