Female genital mutilation a one day workshop and deinfibulation skills a half day workshop
All midwives are required to have the knowledge and skills to care for a woman with FGM as part of the professional standards of practice and behaviour for midwives, set out in the Code (NMC, 2015). In addition midwives should be able to carry out deinfibulation for a woman who presents during labour with an intact Type 3 FGM.
