International Day of Zero Tolerance of FGM

Date: 6 February, 2018 12:00
Venue: Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, Chancellor’s Building, 51 Little France Crescent, Edinburgh

International Day of Zero Tolerance of FGM

6th February is International Day for Zero Tolerance to Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).

FGM can cause both short and long-term health complications, both physical and psychological, for women affected.

With global migration FGM is no longer confined to certain countries therefore it is important that health and social care professionals are ready to offer support.

This is a half day conference with input from Police Scotland and leading Health Professionals. The keynote speaker is Hibo Wardere, survivor, activist and author. There will also be a response from Shona Robison MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing.

The conference is for all health and social care practitioners and is supported by Royal College of Midwives, Edinburgh Child Protection Committee and NHS Lothian.
