Each Baby Counts: Learn and Support

on 05 January 2019 Each Baby Counts

We are delighted to inform you of an exciting opportunity for a midwife or obstetrician  already working within a trust to be seconded to the newly established joint RCM/RCOG Each Baby Counts: Learn and Support Programme as a Local Development Lead.

Having established the successful Each Baby Counts (EBC) programme, in 2018 the RCM and RCOG have received further funding to develop the Each Baby Counts: Learn and Support Programme.

The aim of this new programme is to support multidisciplinary teams to introduce, test and evaluate interventions that focus on behaviours, team work, safety and a positive work culture in their units. The programme will build on work to date and help progress the key recommendations of Each Baby Counts and other national initiatives.

To avoid duplication we will align with existing maternity initiatives and ensure that the Each Baby Counts: Learn and Support Programme will add value to these initiatives including the Maternal and Neonatal Health Safety Collaborative programme and the Local Learning Systems.

The Local Development Lead role will be crucial to the successful delivery of the programme and we are seeking to support and fund one Lead from up to 16 Trusts for the equivalent of 1 day per week from May 2019 for 2 years.

If you have any questions, please email the Each Baby Counts- Learn and Support team- [email protected]

This is a real opportunity for Trusts via their Local Development Leads to shape the future of the care provided in their maternity units and help us drive forward the national ambition to halve the incidence of intrapartum stillbirth, early neonatal death and severe brain injury as a result of events in labour.

Applications for the role closed 11 March 2019.
