Lecture on crucial contribution of midwives

Professor Lesley Page CBE is set to deliver this year’s Zepherina Veitch Memorial Lecture.

This is the RCM’s prestigious annual platform for the best in midwifery research and thought leadership.

The lecture, which takes place on 6 June at St Catherine’s College in Oxford, will also be her goodbye as RCM president.

Lesley will consider what individual woman, babies and families need from maternity services.

She will go on to outline the distinct and crucial contribution midwives make in meeting these needs.

The lecture will discuss recent UK maternity policy and the emerging science relating to maternal health, the physiological and psychological basis of relationships and wellbeing and the longer-term health of women and babies.

Lesley will argue that these present midwifery with challenges, but also opportunities to create the best start in life for women and their families.

The day will also see the investiture of the newly elected RCM President and the presentation of the RCM Fellowships.

This event is open to all RCM members from across the UK and booking is now open.
