Natalie Linder

Natalie Linder

Natalie qualified as a midwife in 2009 at Liverpool John Moores University and has worked clinically both in the hospital and community setting. More recently, she worked as a clinical skills facilitator in a large central delivery suite in Manchester and currently works as a labour ward coordinator at Western Sussex NHS Hospitals Trust. She thoroughly enjoys teaching and supporting newly qualified midwives in developing their skills and resilience during a challenging period of their careers. She has recently completed a preparation of Supervisors of Midwives course at the University of Manchester at Master’s level and is keen to engage in the development of the future of supervision.

Natalie is a passionate union activist and has worked as a RCM steward for the last 2 years. She led the Pay Campaign at her Central Manchester RCM Branch and spend a considerable amount of time engaging members in the run up to the industrial action in 2014. She utilised social media to connect with more members and shared several resources with fellow RCM representatives in the region. This led to a strong RCM representation at the picket line in Central Manchester on both strike days, which was recognised in both the local and national media. She is proud to have worked in partnership with other union representatives and senior management to ensure two effective yet safe strikes were accomplished. She was thrilled to have her efforts acknowledged and was awarded Thompsons Members Champion of the year award at the 2015 RCM awards.

Her experience both as a clinical midwife and RCM workplace rep has demonstrated that when midwives work together - in partnership with women, other professionals and other unions we are an incredible force to be reckoned with and hopes to ensure that the RCM continues to grow in strength following an incredibly strong year as a union and professional organisation.
