International Day of the Midwife 2018

International Day of the Midwife 2018

International Day of the Midwife (IDM) is a day when midwives across the globe celebrate what they do. Since it was first launched by the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) in 1992, 5 May has been the internationally recognised day for spotlighting the work of midwives.

Midwives around the world work hard every day to ensure mothers and their families receive the quality care that they deserve. We are inviting midwives, MSWs, student midwives, members of Trusts, RCM branches and Midwifery Societies across the UK to hold externally facing local events in support of IDM 2018, during the week leading up to and including 5 May 2018, to promote the work of midwives. The theme this year is ‘Midwives leading the way with quality care’.

We want you to take part, and here's how to:

We want all midwifes to celebrate IDM2018 and have come up with a few event ideas to get you thinking; please download these documents for event ideas and guidance on how to run a successful event (see below).
