RCM Cambridge branch hold a Nepalese-themed AGM

RCM Cambridge marked the start of their new year with a Nepalese-themed AGM which took place on Thursday 18th January 2018.
Their Committee President and Rosie Birth Centre Manager, Sue Prytherch RM, travelled to Nepal in November with former RCM CEO Cathy Warwick and fellow RCM members. At the AGM, Sue presented photos of Nepal's stunning landscape and incredible wildlife, alongside the harsher realities of a country ravaged by earthquakes and a healthcare system struggling to meet the needs of a rapidly growing urban population.
Nepal has relatively few registered midwives, so it was fascinating to learn about MIDSON (the Midwifery Society of Nepal) and how they're passionately trying to improve maternity care for women and babies in the region.
Annie West RM, Cambridge RCM's Chair, decorated the room with handmade Nepalese prayer flags and Nepalese-themed snacks were provided. It was a great turn-out for the presentation and re-election of the Committee. Annie also presented the Branch achievements over the past year which featured a number of different events, including November's 'Hug Your MSW' and Country Walk, in celebration of the Maternity Support Worker Month, a Christmas party at a local Jazz Cafe, a membership 'roadshow', a CTG Study day and a summer BBQ. A busy year for the Cambridge branch!
