Southern England branches celebrate IDM 2022

on 05 May 2022 RCM Branches IDM - International Day of the Midwife

Woking and District branch

After a difficult few years, we embraced the phrase "safe care starts with self-care" this year for our International Day of the Midwife Celebrations.

It is so important that we look out for ourselves and each other in order to be able to provide high quality care to those in our care. This lead to us deciding to hold a wellbeing event for staff. We worked with our trust wellbeing team to provide an agenda of events to allow staff some time out of their busy day to enjoy some self care.

We were lucky enough to have donations from local businesses to support our event. We had gifts on offer from Team GB including water bottles and hoodies, RCM ski reels and pens, Neals yard samples and Yoga session vouchers. We held a raffle with an array of wonderful prizes including afternoon tea, beauty treatments, bootcamp passes and hampers.

The day was launched with 2 meditation sessions by Emma Martin Mindfulness and all day shoulder and back massages for staff from Jeremy of Sport massage/Deep tissue Massage Sussex.

Of course we had lots of cakes and sweet treats on offer for staff visiting us through the day but we delivered tea and cakes to the clinical staff who couldn't get away so no-one missed out. The night staff were also treated to pizzas to keep them well fed on their shift.

We had a wonderful day of celebrations that was very well received by staff who were grateful to have a little "me time".
