Come along to your adjourned general meeting for The Royal College of Midwives

Important date for eligible voting members of the Royal College of Midwives, mark this date and time in your diaries - Tuesday 5th March 11:30am.

A general meeting was convened on 13 December 2018, but unfortunately, not enough members attended and was determined not quorate and therefore the meeting had to be adjourned. In accordance with the Company's articles of association, the directors determined the new date for the adjourned meeting.

The adjourned general meeting will now be held on the Tuesday 5th March 2019 at 11:30am located in The Brewery, 52 Chiswell Street, London EC1Y 4SD, where the special resolution will be proposed. Those members that have already voted as proxies on the 13th December 2018 do not need to vote at the adjourned general meeting as all Forms of Proxy/Instructions returned to the Electoral Reform Services remain valid for the adjourned general meeting. Any further Forms of Proxy submitted before 11:30am on Friday 1 March will be valid. We would be delighted to see you in person to vote and appreciate your attendance. Please talk to as many other members as possible to encourage members to attend.

The purpose of the meeting is to vote on a special resolution, which is that the Articles of Association have been amended and the two major changes are:

  • Provision has been made for Maternity Support Workers to stand for election as a board member.
  • An Assurer’s appointment to comply with legislation.  The assurer provides the RCM an annual membership audit certificate in accordance with requirements of the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992.

Please see the Notice of the General Meeting here.
