Dear editorThis spring, the Royal Naval Hospital Haslar in Gosport, Hampshire closed its doors after 256 years of service to the Royal Navy and local civilians.
It is the last of the UK's dedicated military hospitals to close and a very sad day indeed.
I am organising the hospital’s first ever reunion, which will be held in the Thorngate Halls Ballroom, Bury Road, Gosport on 1 May 2011, between 12pm-5pm.
The reunion is for all Royal Naval Medical Branch staff and Queen Alexandra's Royal Naval Nursing Service nurses, who trained there between 1960 and 1980 inclusive.
There will be a licensed bar, a cold buffet lunch and 60s and 70s music followed by a DJ and Haslar Club Disco.
The cost of the event is £20 per head, with all profits going to the forces charity Help for Heroes.
For further information, please email me at the email address above. Nurses, male and female who started their training after 1975 are encouraged to register with the Facebook/RNH Haslar Reunion Group and will get priority for tickets if an event is undersubscribed.
