Dear editorMyself, two other chaps and 27 girls formed the State Registered Nurse Student Class PTS 24 at the Royal Naval Hospital Haslar at Gosport, Hampshire in September 1970.
Most of the girls left the Queen Alexandra's Royal Naval Nursing Service (QARNNS) on completion of their three years’ training and one-year post-qualification contract as staff nurses. I stayed in and completed my 22 years’ service as a sea-going paramedic.
I am now seeking to find the final member of PTS 24, as a 40th anniversary reunion is scheduled for October this year.
I am looking for Margaret Doreen Batch, who was born 13 January 1952 in Surrey. She joined the QARNNS at the Royal Naval Hospital Haslar in September 1970, qualifying as a state registered nurse in 1973 at the Royal Naval Hospital Stonehouse in Plymouth, Devon. She married Private Paul Duckworth RAMC on 12 June 1973 in Surrey.
I would be so grateful, as would my ex-PTS 24 colleagues if you could help us find Margaret. We would love to be reunited.
If you are reading this Margaret, or if you know where I might be able to find her, please contact me, David Rawson (the incredibly young sailor on the right of the photo) on Tel:
