Breastfeeding DVD review

There are six sections to the CD-ROM, which is sponsored by Medela and endorsed by the baby charity Bliss and two of the sections reflect this involvement, with titles of 'Collection and storage of human milk' and 'The preterm infant'. The other four sections are 'Contemporary infant feeding culture', 'Scientific basis of breastfeeding', 'Community support for breastfeeding' and 'Establishing breastfeeding in practice'.

The information in each section varies, with the 'effective attachment' being excellent (it includes an animated video of the suck, swallow and breathing cycle) and the cultural aspects being basic.

This CD-ROM is extremely user friendly. The index, over two pages, allows the reader to click straight on to the topic area and once there, you can click on the surrounding pages and links. Within the text are numbers that if you click on them the reference appears on the left hand side of the screen. I did, however, find some references were too old.

If you click on the word 'browser' at the top of the page then a few thumbnail pictures appear. You can then direct yourself to the text from the picture.

I would recommend this CD-ROM as a library reference to be used in association with other resources.

Have you used this CD-ROM? What did you think?
