Transfer of the clinical outcome review programme

Posted: 6 September 2011 by Rob Dabrowski

The Clinical Outcome Review Programme has been transferred from the National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA) to the Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP).

The transfer took effect at the start of this month (September).

It includes the interim management of maternal and newborn data and the Maternal and Perinatal Mortality Notification (MPMN) web portal and the MPMN Enquiries email
.

These will continue to operate as usual under the management of HQIP.

There are no changes to the collection process of maternal and newborn data.

HQIP has also taken on the responsibility for implementing the recommendations of the Maternal and Newborn review panel, as published in their report at the end of July 2011.

The transfer has been made as part of the recommendations of the DH’s ALB Review, published in 2010, the Clinical Outcome Review Programme (formerly Confidential Enquiries).

All enquiries relating to the Clinical Outcome Review Programme should now be addressed directly to HQIP.
