Quake hits midwife academy

An earthquake in Indonesia has destroyed a midwife academy.
The quake is reported to have lasted 30 seconds and struck the area of Singkil Baru in Aceh. It had a magnitude of 6.7 and destroyed the Subulussalam Midwives Academy building. It also damaged 20 houses, 11 school buildings, five mosques and two community health centres. Panic was widespread, many were injured and ten deaths were recorded after the quake, which struck at about 1am on 6 September. According to North Sumatra Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency, the epicentre of the quake was 59 kilometres northeast of Singkil Baru, Aceh, at a depth of 78 kilometres below sea level.
