Whole Family Health is opening the Lucina Birth and Family Wellness Centre, which is the first facility of its kind in the country.
The centre will house a variety of care providers and is aimed at providing holistic care to women and their families.
Cecil Horwitz, owner of Whole Family Health, said: ‘This is an exciting opportunity to bring the two types of medicine together.
‘Midwives and practitioners of Eastern medicine have always worked to help women achieve the same goals in their pre- and postnatal care.
‘We already have a great success rate in working with midwives, but until now, their patients have had to travel off-site for our services.
‘Our being able to work together under one roof will benefit patients and the community even more.’
The centre is opening in Edmonton and will be equipped to support women through every stage of their pregnancy, from preconception until after the birth.
It will also provide acupuncture, massage therapy, acupressure, and natural fertility counselling.
