Hollywood stars back Start4Life campaign

Posted: 8 June 2012 by Rebecca Grant

Stars of the new Hollywood film What To Expect When You’re Expecting have teamed up with the Start4Life information service to encourage pregnant women to make healthier lifestyle choices.

Start4Life's new advert was played for the first time during What To Expect When You're Expecting's UK premiere, which was attended by actors Jennifer Lopez, Cameron Diaz and Matthew Morrison.

Ms Lopez, who plays expectant mum Holly in the film, and is mother to twins in real life said: “[When you’re pregnant] all you really do care about is not messing up the baby part.

“As long as they’re ok that’s all that really matters, that comes first to me.”

Public health minister Anne Milton added: “With the focus on different experiences during pregnancy in What to Expect When You’re Expecting, we’ve got a great opportunity to talk to parents about how to adopt a healthy lifestyle that will stay with you and your child for life."

The partnership between the film and Start4Life also comes at a crucial time, as recently released figures reveal that one in 10 pregnant women still smoke, one in 10 drink more than the recommended lower-risk allowance and one in six pregnant women are classed as obese.
