Electronic Fetal Monitoring (eFM) won a silver award for ‘most innovative new learning hardware and software product’ at the
E-learning Awards.
The training resource was developed and created in collaboration with RCOG and in partnership with e-Learning for Healthcare.
It was designed to improve interpretation and management of eFM in labour and was launched on 13 September.
Gail Johnson, RCM education and professional development advisor, said: ‘We are delighted to be recognised and it gives a clear message to midwives and obstetricians that it is a valuable resource to support their practice and the care of women in labour.
‘This award is fantastic recognition of collaborative project between the RCM and RCOG.
‘It is freely available to all midwives working within the NHS and it provides an excellent learning resource.’
The module is interactive and addressed both normal and pathophysiological fetal monitoring.
It gives individuals the ability to print out and copy files to their e-portfolios/CPD portfolios and show evidence of CTG training and competency.
It also educates by using assessment-driven, case-based learning and provides performance feedback.
An initial pilot, which began in May this year, was hailed a success, with 90% of participants saying they thought the educational content was excellent.
Then, in July, the second phase of the pilot took place, in which 50 obstetricians and 50 midwives trialled the resource.
