The national awards aim to recognise outstanding leaders at every level of the system and share good leadership practice.
Anyone working for, or on behalf of, the NHS in England can nominate and be nominated.
The NHS states that it is a great opportunity to champion the people, partnerships and boards that make a significant impact on patient outcomes.
There are nine categories in the awards, which are held to celebrate outstanding leadership in the NHS.
These range from mentor of the year, to innovator of the year, to an award for inspiration.
The awards are affiliated to the new NHS Leadership Academy, which aims to support leadership development, set national standards and raise the profile of leadership.
