The Green-top Guidelines App is for the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch iOS devices and the college is the first to launch such an App.
It provide healthcare professionals and patients with clinical information on the management of specific obstetric and gynaecological conditions.
It provides easy access to updated guidelines, enables users to search for specific words or terms, make notes and bookmark particular sections of guidelines relevant to their specialty.
Sara Johnson, executive director of quality and knowledge at the RCOG, said: ‘This new App is very exciting for our specialty.
‘It provides up-to-date, easily accessible information when you are on the move. It includes all current Green-top Guidelines and automatically downloads revised content.
‘We hope trainees will find it particularly useful as it enables users to make notes on specific guidelines relevant to their work while senior consultants will have the guidelines at their finger tips wherever they go.
‘The RCOG is leading the way as we are the only royal college to offer an App with mobile access to full clinical guidelines.’
To use the App there is no need for an internet connection, however, every time the App is online it automatically updates so the latest guidelines are available.
It is aimed at obstetricians, gynaecologists, specialist trainees, midwives, nurses, general practitioners, professionals working in women’s healthcare and women seeking more information about their health and clinical care.
