After you qualify

We look forward to welcoming you to your profession when you qualify as a midwife at the end of your training.

We appreciate making the step from student to your first job can be a challenging time, particularly financially.  We are working hard to secure jobs for new midwives - the future of midwifery.

When your training ends, having been a Student member, you will automatically transfer to Full Membership unless we hear from you.  For the first three months after your training ends we will only charge you at the student subscription rate.

Newly Qualified Rate
The Royal College of Midwives offers a special membership subscription rate for newly qualified midwives.  RCM Student members who qualified as a midwife after 1 September 2009 benefit from a discounted subscription for their first year as Full members of the RCM.

Newly Qualified Rate members enjoy all the benefits of Full membership including Medical Malpractice insurance cover, workplace representation and professional development resources.

The discounted rate of £10.37pcm is open exclusively to qualified midwives who transfer to Full membership having previously been Student members of the RCM.

Please note that you will automatically transfer to a newly qualified rate by our membership team.
