MSW Learning and Development Guide

The RCM has produced a Maternity Support Worker Learning and Development Guide to assist MSWs, midwives, managers, educationalists and others including Workplace Representatives. Its contents include the policy context behind the development of the maternity workforce in England and the education credit and qualification framework   and key vocational qualifications. The guide has been developed in response to research commissioned by the RCM and Department of Health in 2007 which made recommendations on how the learning offer for MSWs could be improved.
 
The guide is accompanied by a set of Standards to assess the effectiveness and appropriateness of formal education programmes.
 
The guide addresses the position in England but may also be of interest to colleagues in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.
