The contents of this page of the RCM web site are drawn up in concordance with the RCM mission statement, which defines the central purpose and role of the RCM as:
A distinctive resource, which supports its members in positively influencing the quality of midwifery care offered to women and their families. It enables midwives to develop skills and confidence representing their interests to employers and to national and local policy makers.
The RCM thus has a vital role in disseminating information linked to professional midwifery practice, and in ensuring that there is a recognised UK-wide platform for sharing good practice. This also engages the members in building a midwifery practice resource that they feel is supportive in the practice field.
The current content of this web page, promoting quality in midwifery practice, presents midwifery practice guidelines linked to midwifery-led care in labour. Further development of guidelines will follow in the future.
The RCM can accept no responsibility for errors or omissions and assumes no responsibility or liability for loss or damage resulting from the use of information contained within it.
