Honorary member

An honorary member is a member who was admitted as such before 10 May 2005.

An honorary member is exempt from paying subscriptions.


Benefits comprise

  • Medical Malpractice Insurance  (An honorary member will be covered by medical malpractice insurance for a total of 10 years after ceasing practice provided she was a full member, an associate member or a retired member at the time the claim was notified)
  • Representation for Nursing and Midwifery Council proceedings (relating to incidents whilst previously a Full member)
  • Continuing practice development programmes
  • Midwives magazine
  • Midwives e-newsletters
  • Online Evidence Based Midwifery magazine
  • Will making service (member only)
  • Legal advice (member and family)
  • Members section of the website
  • Entitled to attend at branch meetings
