Who qualifies to join?

This category is for midwife lecturers who are also members of another professional body or trade union (such as EIS or UCU) representing midwife lecturers with which the RCM has an arrangement for joint membership which has been approved by the General Secretary.

What are the benefits?

Medical Malpractice Insurance

Full Member (Joint Agreement)  Membership includes up to £3 million Medical Malpractice cover for liability for damages awarded for injury, death or illness alleged to have been caused by malpractice in the provision of professional services.  Remember, you need to be a member at the time when an incident happens for us to be able to help you.

Employment-related advice and legal assistance

Joint Agreement Members are not represented in the higher education workplace by the RCM, but rely on their membership of their other trade union recognised in their workplace (such as EIS or UCU).  However, the RCM also supports members in this category with access to employment-related legal advice through our Legal Assistance scheme, including personal injury cases.  If you should be referred to the Nursing and Midwifery Council, we provide full representation, including barrister advocacy at hearings if required.
