Corina has been a midwife since 1981 and has held a variety of posts in the North West. Corina is currently employed as the Head of Midwifery at NHS Halton and St Helens which is a midwifery service within a PCT - the only one of its kind in the NW region.
Corinas 30 years as a midwife was preceded by 5 years as a nurse. She has worked in all clinical areas of midwifery both as a midwife and manager. The majority of her experience was gained in 3 large teaching hospitals in Liverpool. For the past 6 years Corina has worked as Head of Midwifery in NHS Halton and St Helens which is the only PCT in the North West with midwifery services. Corina has been a supervisor of midwives for 20 years and is a link supervisor within the North West LSA.
Amongst Corinas notable achievements she would include being married for 28years, mother to 2 children now in their 20’s, and completing a BA (Hons) and MSc between the ages of 40-50 whilst working fulltime and carrying out the above additional roles! Corina feels very strongly about the role of the midwife within the primary care setting. It is her belief that the relationship with the midwife sets the tone for the future engagement of the mother and family with healthcare professionals in the formative years of a child’s life.
