The Board for Wales was established in 1973, although the appointment of a professional officer and the establishment of Board premises in Swansea did not take place until 1985. Since that time the Board has moved to Cardiff and employs three members of staff.
The role of the RCM’s Welsh Board is to provide the Council and General Secretary with a country perspective on matters relating to policy, legislation, parliament and the Welsh National Assembly. It also acts to disseminate information, develop relations with relevant bodies and organisations and extend the influence of the RCM within Wales.

Branch Representatives
One representative from each of the 16 branches throughout Wales are elected by branch members at their Annual General Meeting (AGM) and serve a two-year term of office.

3 Board Council Members
These members are elected according to the Rules of the College and serve a three-year term of office. At present the Board Council Members are: Kathleen Jones and Marion McIvor.
Board Officers
The Board appoints two officers for a period of two years. At present the officers are: Karen Jewell (Chair) and Julie Wall (Vice Chair). These officers act as the executive committee of the Board, and undertake such duties as dealing with complaints and appointing a Secretary to the Board.
