The Ulster Midwives Association was formed in June 1935 and became the Northern Ireland Council of the Royal College of Midwives in 1945. It became the Northern Ireland Board in 1972. Offices were established and a professional officer appointed in 1985.
The Board currently employs three members of staff who provide professional advice and support to members working in Northern Ireland, but their responsibilities are separated by area. To find your representative, please see our staff responsibilities page.
