Launch of ‘There Are No Guarantees’, a joint leaflet produced by the
National Maternity Support Foundation and the Royal College of Midwives
The National Maternity Support Foundation (NMSF) and the
Royal College of Midwives (RCM) have launched a leaflet aimed at
helping parents planning for the birth of their baby. The leaflet ‘There
Are No Guarantees’ provides helpful tips for discussing options for
place of birth and other important considerations, such as use of
birthing pools and getting to know midwives in the team.
Commenting on the launch of the leaflet, Cathy Warwick,
General Secretary of the RCM, said, “Every birth is different and every
expectant mother will have her own requirements about her baby’s birth.
It is hugely important that decisions by women and their partners are
made on the basis of having the best possible information.
“We would encourage women and their partners to talk to
their midwives and the maternity teams about the options open to
them. Armed with the right information, they can then make a decision
that will be best for them, and their baby.”
